About The Destination

Jawai – The Leopard Country

Jawai is a wild, unhurried landscape of ancient granite hills in southern Rajasthan, built around the Jawai Dam. Unlike a fenced national park, Jawai's leopards live in the open, often close to Rabari shepherd villages, in one of the more unusual predator-human coexistence stories in India.

It's become a favorite for travelers who want a wildlife experience without leaving Rajasthan's cultural circuit - easily combined with Udaipur, which sits a comfortable drive away.

Food, Culture & Local Life

Meals in Jawai are usually taken at your safari camp or lodge, often featuring simple, home-style Rajasthani cooking using local produce.
