About The Destination
Jodhpur – The Blue City
Jodhpur sits at the edge of the Thar Desert, its old city famous for the blue-washed houses that spread out beneath Mehrangarh Fort - one of the largest and best-preserved forts in India. The color, originally used to mark Brahmin homes and later adopted for its cooling effect, is now the city's defining feature.
Jodhpur works well as a stop between Jaipur and Jaisalmer, and its fort and old city bazaars are easily covered in a day or two, making it a flexible addition to almost any Rajasthan itinerary.

Food, Culture & Local Life
Jodhpur is known for a few dishes that are hard to find elsewhere in quite the same form - Mirchi Bada (a spicy stuffed chili fritter) and Makhaniya Lassi (a thick, saffron-topped yogurt drink) are local specialties worth seeking out near the clock tower market.
The city's blue-painted old town is also a good place to see traditional Rajasthani crafts, from bandhani (tie-dye) textiles to leather juttis (shoes), sold in the lanes around Sardar Market.
